As you all know the first half of the month is Carnevale
This is a festival leading up to lent. Children dress up in costumes and there are parties all over Italy. Here are some Carnevale events going on in Florence. There are also non-Carnevale events below. Note; I will be updating them as they come.
Activites in February in Florence
Saturday 9 February
-Carenval in Florence will be in Piazza Ognissanti on Saturday 9 February starting from 2:00pm. The masked parade will begin at 2:30pm in via Curatone and then circle back to piazza Ognissanti, where there will be demonstrations, flag throwers of the Signoria, and italian and foreign groups in costumes.

Workshop at the Bottega dei Ragazzi – ‘Once upon a game. Ages 6-11. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Activity is in Italian. Reservations are highly recommended: email BOTTEGA@ISTITUTODEGLINNOCENTI.IT
Sunday 10 February
- 4:00 pm at SMS Rifredi (via Vittorio Emanuele II 303) there will be a carneval party with facepainting, music, and demonstrations. At 7:00pm they will award the best mask a prize. See sito borgognissanti.net.
-It isn’t a carnevale celebration but a workshop with on ‘carnevale’. It is organized by the Planetario di Firenze. For children 6 and up.
-Saturday 16 February
Worskshop – Museum investigators. Ages 3-5. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Activity is in Italian. Reservations are highly recommended: email BOTTEGA@ISTITUTODEGLINNOCENTI.IT
